The Bruce Kroken Memorial Scholarship
The Bruce Kroken Memorial Scholarship is a $1,500 cash award to encourage band students to continue participation as a performing musician. The Albuquerque Concert Band (ACB) is once again offering this scholarship to High School Band Members in New Mexico who are graduating seniors. They must plan to register and play in a Performance Ensemble in college but do not need to be a music major.
The $1,500 award is given to one student. In addition to the financial award, recipients shall perform their audition solo at the Albuquerque Concert Band Concert in April. The concert will be held in the Eldorado High School Performing Arts Complex at 3pm. The winner shall be selected by a virtual audition and interview.
The award will be based on the virtual audition and interview. The applicant must perform on a traditional band instrument. The audition will be virtual. The audition selection is the performer's choice and may be the solo selection that the student will perform at Solo/Ensemble Festival. If selected for the Bruce Kroken Scholarship, the audition piece should be the performance piece for the concert.
This page will be updated with details about the application, audition, and performance for the next Bruce Kroken Memorial Scholarship in January.
